Everything you need to know about keratin smoothening — how it works, how long it lasts, and whether it's right for your hair type.
Keratin treatments have revolutionised hair care — transforming frizzy, unmanageable hair into silky, smooth locks that last months. But with so many options available, how do you choose the right one?
What is a Keratin Treatment?
Keratin is the structural protein that makes up your hair. A keratin treatment infuses this protein back into damaged hair strands, smoothing the cuticle and eliminating frizz for months at a time.
Types of Keratin Treatments
Brazilian Keratin (most popular — lasts 3–5 months), Japanese Straightening (permanent straightening), Keratin Smoothening (lighter option — lasts 2–3 months), and Nano Keratin (for fine or colour-treated hair).
Is Keratin Right for You?
Keratin works best for naturally frizzy, wavy, or curly hair. It is also ideal for colour-treated hair that needs smoothening. Not recommended for hair that is severely damaged or over-processed.
The Kimaya Process
We use premium Brazilian and Korean keratin formulations that are formaldehyde-free. The treatment takes 3–4 hours and includes a full consultation, treatment application, blow-dry, and flat-iron finish.
Post-Keratin Care
Avoid washing hair for 72 hours post-treatment. Use sulphate-free shampoo. Avoid tying hair tightly for the first week. Return for a gloss treatment after 3 months to maintain the effect.
